High ambition, built on community
Taishi Judo Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit built around a shared belief in the values of judo and the impact they have on and off the mat.
A club that aims high
The word Taishi (大志) means great ambition or high aspiration. It reflects what we expect from ourselves as judoka, coaches, parents and teammates: continue learning, continue improving, and help those around us do the same.
At Taishi, we teach strong, fundamentally sound judo in an environment built on respect, discipline, integrity and trust. Whether a student is stepping onto the mat for the first time or preparing for high level competition, our goal is to help every judoka develop confidence, skill, resilience and character.
High ambition.
The discipline to show up with purpose, embrace discomfort, and keep improving on and off the mat.
Taishi has always been built around community
Our coaches support one another. Our families support the entire team, not just their own children. Our athletes train together, compete together, volunteer together, and learn that individual progress strengthens the entire club.
Mutual welfare and benefit. Judo is at its best when we help one another improve.
One of judo’s central principles, and the philosophy our club is built on.
There is no single definition of success
For one student, success may be learning their first throw or competing in their first tournament. For another, it may mean earning a black belt, becoming a referee, coaching the next generation, or pursuing competition at the highest levels of the sport.
Our responsibility is to give each judoka the instruction, opportunities and support to discover how far they want to go. We teach the techniques of judo, and we embrace the values behind them.
Building the future of judo
To develop skilled judoka and strong people through the practice, principles and community of judo.
We are proud of our history, and Taishi continues to move forward. Every student who walks onto our mat becomes part of that story. Train hard. Support one another. Aim high.
